At Frosty Acres we time the harvest at the peak of the plant’s development before flowering and use a mower/conditioner to sever and crimp the plant's stem for faster drying. The hay is then tedded to further decrease the drying time but also to ensure an even drying of the forage before it’s windrowed. We digitally test the hay for moisture and use a rotary rake to gently window the hay before baling. We focus on quality and test moisture and bale density often while baling to produce dry, square bales that average 50 lbs of nutritionally valuable, clean hay. 100% biodegradable Sisal twine is used to allow for lasting, sturdy, and easy to handle bales. We can even analyze your soil and hay crop and apply fertilizer or seed to increase yield and improve quality.

Whether you’re interested in the complete hay service that includes stacking bales in your barn or the same quality and consistency in a bale at the most affordable rate ($1.75 per bale), Frosty Acres has an option for you. We even offer all stages of hay production, A-La-Carte for when you just need a little help to stay ahead of the weather or overcome an equipment failure.
